Kapalga Travel specialise in camping, hiking & sightseeing tours in the Top End of Australia. We run two 9-day tours (Darwin-Broome and Broome-Darwin) through the Kimberley outback in western Australia and travel along the Gibb River Road. These tours are suited to anyone who is fit, active and keen to go on an adventure and explore the remote wilderness. They're not luxury tours, passengers will often be bush camping with little or no facilities. Our 9-day Kimberley tour is all about embracing adventure, forgetting about home-comforts and getting to grips with the outback experience.
We run private charters anywhere in the Top End of Australia whether it's in the Kimberley, Kakadu, Litchfield, Arnhem Land or beyond. Our guide Adam has 8 years experience taking tours through western Australia and the Northern Territory; he's taken tours from Darwin - Perth (and the reverse), Darwin - Kakadu - Arnhem Land and Darwin - Alice Springs (and the reverse); these are just a few examples. We encourage anyone looking for a personal itinerary to contact us. Our private charters allow us to design and operate a tour catering for the specific requirements of the client, whether they are travelling as an individual, a couple or a group and no matter what age. They simply need to tell us the style of tour they are looking for, whether it's luxury or basic, active or gentle, and we can put together an itinerary and run a tour to suit their requests.
We also offer a 1-day tour to Litchfield National Park which is suitable for anyone wanting an adventure away from the city, individuals can book or it can be booked as a private charter on any day (March - November).
The company is owned and run out of Darwin in the Northern Territory by Adam Bowen & Lucy Periton. Adam is our driver & guide who began working in the Kimberley 10 years ago and has been a tour guide in the Top End for 8 years. He has extensive knowledge and experience in the area, and frequently receives 10/10 from his passengers at the end of a tour. He is enthusiastic by nature, he loves the Kimberley region and he has a genuine passion and interest in local wildlife, rock art as well as fauna & flora. He grew up spending all his time exploring bushland near his hometown and learning about birds and orchids with his father and grandfather. He is a natural explorer simply doing the job he loves. He is friendly & fun to be around; he knows how to have a good time but also knows how to keep people safe in remote areas and what to do in an emergency.
Lucy Periton is the organiser. She manages the day-to-day running of the business. Lucy is originally from England and has a passion for travel; she discovered the Kimberley in 2012 and immediately realised it was her favourite part of Australia. Adam & Lucy have combined their passion for the unique Kimberley outback and their love of the Top End lifestyle, to create a company driven to provide once-in-a-life-time experiences to visitors in the Top End.
Adam & Lucy set up Kimberley Off-Road Adventure Tours because they wanted to provide tours that allowed visitors to explore and travel the way they have always enjoyed. They focus on delivering the ultimate outback adventures by getting off the beaten track and discovering the very best of what the Kimberley and the Top End has to offer. They want to show passengers the bare bones of the region and allow them to get carried away in nature and forget about the big city lights they've left behind.
If for any reason you need to cancel your booking you need to confirm this with us in writing and then we will start to process your request. Please be aware the following fees will apply:
30+ days prior to departure 25% of the total price of the tour
15 – 29 days prior to departure 50% of the total price of the tour
0 – 14 days prior to departure 100% of the total price of the tour
If you need to cancel please notify us by email and write ‘Cancellation {date of tour}’ in the title of the email. If you fail to join the tour join it after departure or you decide to leave the tour at anytime Kapalga Travel Pty Limited will not provide a refund.
Kapalga Travel Pty Limited reserves the right to cancel or postpone any tour at anytime prior to departure. This could be the result of road and/or weather conditions natural disasters mechanical defect cultural considerations or other external events that means we are unable to operate the itinerary. In this case we can offer you a complete refund of the monies paid to Kapalga Travel Pty Limited or transfer the costs to another tour. We are not responsible for any incidental expenses that you may incur as a result of your booking being cancelled or altered by us.
If you wish to transfer your tour to a different departure date please put it in writing to us by sending an email. It is helpful if you put in the title of your email ‘Tour change’. Kapalga Travel Pty Limited are not obliged to accept your request or to change your tour date departure. It will depend on how much notice we receive about the change the departure dates and whether there are seats available. There will be a fee involved in transferring your seat.
